Haven holidaymakers relish new gastro-menus

Haven Holidays are saying ‘hello’ to a whole new range of freshly prepared dishes, salads and vegetarian menus welcoming gastro-pub style food to their holiday parks.
The new menu, which was introduced when Haven’s 35 UK holiday parks re-opened on March 18th is already proving popular with holidaymakers who have welcomed the delicious choice now available.

With breakfast, lunch, all-day snacks, dinner and children’s options it caters for all tastes and appetites with a comprehensive choice throughout the day from early morning pancakes, yogurts and croissants right through to evening snacks of ‘hot & spicy prawns’, nachos or a whole baked Camembert.

‘Traditional favourites haven’t been forgotten,’ say Haven who recognise that a hearty British breakfast, fish and chips, steak and ale pies and bangers and mash will always be popular.

The difference is in the preparation and the qualified chefs on all parks ensure that fresh cod is hand-battered, vegetables are prepared to order and guests are offered individually prepared food.

Holidaymakers can look forward to light salads including seared salmon and a blackened Cajun chicken noodle salad; stuffed aubergines and vegetarian lasagne; calves liver; tomato and cheddar tartlets and an extensive grill menu with steaks, salmon and chicken piri piri garnished with a choice of ‘Holy Cow’ sauces.

And children will be tempted by healthier mini-meals with pasta dishes, side salads, granary sandwiches and roast dinners –just like Mum makes!

‘We’ve sourced prime produce and are working towards using local and seasonal options wherever possible,’ says Mark Harper, Operations Director for Haven Holidays.

The new menus are part of an overall strategy to give customers the best possible experience at a value for money cost. Over the winter Haven have invested around £55million in new facilities, improvements to venues, landscaping and new accommodation.

Many of the Parks already feature high street brands such as Starbucks, Papa John’s Pizzas and Burger King and Haven have rolled out their own ‘Mash & Barrel’ brand to 21 of their parks nationwide. Mash & Barrel offers food throughout the day in a relaxed cafe-bar-lounge environment.

Two Haven parks, Craig Tara and Hafan y Mor also offer a half board option to holidaymakers with generous buffet style breakfasts and three course evening meals.

‘Character’ breakfasts remain a firm favourite with children who relish being joined by Rory the Tiger, Bradley Bear and friends as they tuck into their bacon and eggs!

Prices for a break with Haven Holidays range from as little as £129 for a three or four night Spring break for a family of up to six people up to £1455 for a week in a top of the range Platinum holiday home at a five star park in the Summer. Menus are reasonably priced; pork and leek sausages with onion gravy are just £6.95; haddock and smoked salmon fish pie costs £9.25 and the chicken noodle salad is £8.95.
